On August 1, 2024, the Amarílis Association was founded in Holambra.
The name of the South American flower, Amaryllis, was chosen to honor the city of flowers, Holambra, São Paulo, where it was created. Furthermore, because it derives from the Greek term "amaryssein," meaning "to shine" or "to radiate," it represents beauty and luminosity. When observing the development of its flower from the bulb, an analogy can be drawn to the development of a child, who only needs a favorable environment and conditions to develop and flourish. And, most importantly, it contains the verb "to love" in its name.
Its main thrust, as stated in its founding statute, came from the understanding of the need to carry out social assistance actions in a continuous, permanent, and planned manner, through the provision of services, execution of programs or projects, and granting of basic or special social protection benefits, aimed at families and individuals in situations of vulnerability or social and personal risk, as well as developing artistic and cultural activities outside of school hours and actions for the sociocultural integration of the Holambra school community.
The Association aims to promote the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and cultural development of children and adolescents, preparing them for the full exercise of citizenship and for adult life, as well as the community in general, working in the area of social assistance.
The target audience is concentrated in the Imigrantes neighborhood and surrounding areas, an area identified as having economic, sociocultural, and educational needs. By including this multi-age group in educational initiatives, we promote the comprehensive development of children and young people.
Thus, the Institution is committed to its entire educational community in favor of the systemic education of its students, ensuring the development of cognitive, emotional and democratic skills that enable them to act in society and transform it in a conscious, fair and supportive manner.
