Holambra, a city marked by its immigrant origins and strong Dutch cultural presence, is also home to a growing population of migrants from the Northeast, mostly rural workers in flower greenhouses. This territorial and symbolic division, highlighted by a highway, demarcates not only distinct geographic spaces but also chasms in access to culture, education, and leisure.
Children from these migrant communities have few or no opportunities to participate in cultural activities. The AMARÍLIS project therefore emerges as an affirmative action for equity and social justice, guaranteeing the right to full development and access to symbolic and cultural assets.
More than just workshops, the project proposes a formative and emotional journey, centered on listening, coexistence, artistic production, and the collective construction of meaning. It aims to develop and empower critical, creative individuals who are aware of their transformative social role.
More than just workshops, the project proposes a formative and emotional journey, centered on listening, coexistence, artistic production, and the collective construction of meaning. It aims to develop and empower critical, creative individuals who are aware of their transformative social role.
The Amarílis project is not limited to cognitive development; its social role expands to the development of other human dimensions, such as emotional, social, physical, and cultural, which are important for the integral development of individuals.
Given this understanding, the development of socio-emotional skills is essential, that is, “the ability to mobilize, articulate and put into action knowledge, values, skills, attitudes and emotions to solve everyday problems”, whether personal or social, such as perseverance, optimism, solidarity, empathy, resilience, self-determination, among others, necessary for students to learn to relate better with themselves and with others and improve their living conditions.
